125 years of industrial history

David Dorfmueller founded a factory for tool production in Remscheid. Together with his sons he produced drills, gimlets and other tools for craftsmen. Therefore the company is called "David Dorfmueller Sons". In 1928 David Dorfmueller bequeathed the enterprise to his son Walter and his three other children.

The annex next to the residence, built in 1895, was a family enterprise. This picture was made around 1914, house and factory building are still existing nearly unchanged. But in 1967 the production moved into a larger plant and in 1986 into a newly erected factory located in an industrial area in Remscheid.

Walter Dorfmueller took over the factory. DDS produced tools continuously, mainly for woodworking and pipe pliers. Meanwhile the staff increased to ten employees and the building became too small. The original building was enlarged twice.

Wolfgang Dorfmueller carried on with the family's tradition and started his apprenticeship in the paternal factory in 1950. In 1971 he inherited the enterprise and, under his leadership, the company specialised in the production of items with maximum precision. Today Wolfgang Dorfmueller leads the firm together with his son Klaus Dorfmueller and his son-in-law Michael Hake.
